Not Having Kidney Stones

If you’ve never experienced the incredible hell that is kidney stones, consider yourself blessed. And though this is a strange topic for this website, it’s really all I can write about at the moment. And I’m okay with that. So you should be too. So I’m going to declare that those of you who do not have to deal with kidney stones are the focus of my Good Stuff attention. Because having them sucks. So let me horrify you into understanding the stakes here. Kidney stones are typically a compound called Calcium Oxalate, which is a fancy way of saying … Read more…

Why We Should Stop Pretending That Mason Jars are a Hipster Thing

A few years ago, I attended the wedding of a friend. My then-fiancé and I focused a bit more on the production of the affair than we normally would, because we were planning our own wedding. It was a beautiful spring day in Placerville, California and we were being treated to a rather cute southern picnic, complete with sandwiches, iced tea, lemonade, and even a pie contest. Fire Roasted Cinnamon Rolls

So, I went camping over this last weekend, which is normally not a super interesting thing to say, but this also happened to be the first time I’d gone camping in several years. Bamiyan Afghan Restaurant

If it were up to me, and me alone, I would probably eat some combination of ramen noodles, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and chips and salsa. Before I met my wife 10 years ago, my restaurant habits consisted mostly of fast food, Denny’s and, if I was feeling particularly experimental, maybe I’d go to TGI Fridays or something. Such is the sad state of affairs for the typical college-age white American male. Well, thankfully for my health, Megan does actually a bit of a passion for food, and she is generally right (as most wives are). When she decides … Read more…

Chia Pudding

I’m a guy who’s normally pretty into the liberal, ultra-green, natural, organic, whatever stuff, but only as far as what I’m eating still tastes good. I’m pretty liberal, I know that global warming is a real thing, organic produce does honestly taste better to me, and I don’t mind paying a couple more bucks to make sure that the cow or chicken lived a decently nice life before it eventually died to fulfill its’ inevitable fate. However, I’m not vegetarian, I still eat fast food from time to time, and I don’t subscribe to any diet except just trying to … Read more…
