White Nationalists are Wrong About the Civil War

When the chaos in Charlottesville happened a few weeks ago, like many around America, I was pissed off. Sure, I am a white male, so I’m not going to be as pissed off as someone who gets unfortunately lumped into one of the unfortunate categories that we seem to call “other.” But the idea that these feelings, this hatred, is still going on is insane to me, and I would imagine, many white people across the country. Many around the country and the world blame Trump for this sudden uptick of activity. Sure, maybe his blustering idiocy has somehow provided … Read more…

THE ANIMANIACS ARE ON NETFLIX!!!!

Guys, it’s finally happened. After years of trying to scrape by with either trying to find video copies, or giving up and torrenting episodes, it’s finally on Netflix. Animaniacs is on Netflix. In case you thought you had anything better to do, you now don’t. Hell, it’s Animaniacs, you can probably do your important stuff while the show is playing in the background. It doesn’t matter. It beckons to you. It calls for your love and attention. Remember the greatness of The Animaniacs. I’ll be impressed if you can resist it. Sure, there are much more important things going on … Read more…

Of Futures and Good Stuff

So, Mike is back. Yup. I’m writing for my stupid blog again. Why? Because I damn well feel like it. If you’re wondering why I was gone, well let’s just say that this blog doesn’t pay me. At least not yet. But other things I recently picked up do pay me. So when I get home from my stupid and unfulfilling 9-5 and then I think about what I’d rather do: write for a site that doesn’t pay me, or write for a site that does pay me. Well, history speaks for me. Call me a slave to the man … Read more…

GDC 2015 Preview – Steam Link

So, while everyone was busy with gadgets at MWC, those who like to spend their time with entertainment were paying attention to GDC. Unfortunately for me, that meant I was checking out both. As per usual, I will be picking and choosing what I post here, based on the things I think you’d enjoy. As this is a gaming conference, Valve always has a notable presence at GDC. However, their presence was a bit bigger than normal. They announced a bunch of new Steam Boxes, talked a lot about SteamOS, showed off the newest, “final (for now)” form of their … Read more…

NaNoWriMo 2014

So National Novel Writing Month is one of the best things to have ever happened to me. It’s basically a month long challenge for writers every single November that asks us crazy folk to write a 50,000 word novel over 30 days. I’ve always been interested in it, but I didn’t start participating in it until last year (2013). And that was the year I wrote my first novel. And I loved the novel. And I’m working on editing it to a point so I can get it published. And I loved the experience so much, that I’m coming back … Read more…

Harry’s Truman Set

If you’re as avid as a podcast listener as I am, you’ve likely heard of these guys. Heck, if you’ve been on the internet for any time at all in the last year or so, you’ve seen this company’s name. Yes, they are spending a ridiculous amount of money on advertising. Yes, they are buying off podcasters with free sets of razors. Are they buying me off? While I would love to get money from these guys, I have not been bought off or received anything for free from them. I spent $15 of my own money so I can … Read more…

Gearbox pleads for Sony’s help. Shows why Sony fails.

Today, Gearbox is asking its fans to put pressure on Sony to help them make a port of Borderlands 2 for the Vita. The biggest problem seems to be that they don’t have the man power to create a high quality port that will also allow players to connect characters between the PS3 and Vita. This move shows an important point that Sony would do well to notice. If Gearbox is asking fans, then they’ve already gone to Sony several times. Essentially Gearbox wants to make a potentially awesome AAA title for the Vita and Sony is giving them middle … Read more…

Opening the Time Capsule Killing Machines: Playing Devil’s Advocate With the Ending of Mass Effect 3.

My Really Long Theoretical Introduction Unless you hid under a rock somewhere, you’re probably aware that Mass Effect 3 has a new extended cut ending. Many are outraged at the ending, as they were before, and many are pleased. However, I haven’t seen any attention given to why the ending may be pleasing, and perhaps that’s because it’s so easy to rip it apart. I have to admit, I also felt the same way. I felt betrayed that Bioware didn’t change the ending at all, but just clarified to  to be the same. I was one in the camp of … Read more…

Windows Phone 8: Microsoft Shows Promise, Plays Catch Up

On Wednesday, Redmond showed off their new Mobile OS to a crowd of eager watchers and rumor mongers’. I can’t say that I’m not a little intrigued by the little OS that could. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been adopted as widespread as Redmond would have hoped, but it’s hoping that Windows Phone 8 will be different. Within the new announcements, Microsoft announced several features that are an attempt to play catch up with iOS and Android. Unfortunately, some of this catch up is too little too late, but some of it can add more emphasis to great ideas that never worked. … Read more…

Final Fantasy 7 Coming to PC (again…finally)

A Google Cache search of the site  finalfantasyviipc.com found a version of the site detailing Square Enix’s most recent efforts to resurrect Final Fantasy 7 on PC. So far we know that better graphics and achievements are promised. The best part is that the site was tracked down to the CEO of Square Enix, himself. While it may be just a rumor at this point, its certainly enough to excite PC gamers Source: Joystiq
