Pissing on Metal Bikinis

And so what’s the first thing I’m going to write about? Star Wars of course. Okay okay, I know you’re tired of hearing about how amazing Episode 7 is going to be when we haven’t see the actual movie. I know the subject of this article is old hat now, but I don’t care. I have something to say about it that nobody else seems to be saying. So let’s talk about something super dumb that happened in the world of Star Wars, because this kind of stupidity is frankly quite absurd. It begins as it always does. A single … Read more…

Of Futures and Good Stuff

So, Mike is back. Yup. I’m writing for my stupid blog again. Why? Because I damn well feel like it. If you’re wondering why I was gone, well let’s just say that this blog doesn’t pay me. At least not yet. But other things I recently picked up do pay me. So when I get home from my stupid and unfulfilling 9-5 and then I think about what I’d rather do: write for a site that doesn’t pay me, or write for a site that does pay me. Well, history speaks for me. Call me a slave to the man … Read more…

Star Wars: The Trailer Awakens 2

This was a huge week for trailers, what with the reveal of the first trailers for Batman v. Superman, The Fantastic Four, and even a leaked teaser for the first Star Wars standalone film, Rogue One. But of course, the biggest reveal was the new Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens trailer. And what a reveal it was. The first teaser trailer was perfect for inciting the type of excitement that a first teaser was supposed to incite. Before our eyes was a flurry of action with a freaked out string section providing the rhythm of our heartbeats. There … Read more…

Best April Fools Jokes 2015

I love April Fools. Mainly because as I’ve gotten older, people don’t prank me anymore. And now I can just sit back on Reddit and laugh at all the terrible things done at other people’s expense. But the best part is that big companies also love to spend a ton of money and time getting your attention with silly April Fools stuff. And boy does it work! It’s like the marketing departments are trying to create another superbowl! Oh crap, maybe they are. Not everything you’re going to see April Fools-wise is great, but here’s the stuff that actually made … Read more…

Microsoft’s Next Non-Pro Surface Announced

Seemingly out of nowhere, Microsoft simultaneously announced new 2-in-1 hardware and the future of its low end hardware brand. Previously, the Surface RT and Surface 2 featured ARM-based Nvidia Tegra chips and the firm’s ARM-based version of Windows. These devices never sold in very good quantities and typically received rave reviews for their hardware design, but disappointing murmurs for the OS, which did not support traditional desktop apps. I, on the other hand, did enjoy my Surface 2 quite a bit as it gave me a distraction free writing experience, consistent performance, good battery life, and a balance of high … Read more…

Windows 10 Technical Preview – Build 10041

After 54 days, Microsoft has released a new build of the technical preview. While many have been clamoring for Microsoft to release a build sooner, monthly or even weekly, I’d much rather they take their time and release builds that are more stable than those created in the past. Unfortunately, even after almost two months, this is the buggiest build yet, and I’m starting to wonder about the stability of the final product, considering Terry Myerson recently announced that Windows 10 would be shipping “this summer.” Considering “this summer” means anytime from June to September (June 21st to September 23rd … Read more…

Samsung Galaxy S6 – Better, but Still Dumb

I had a really hard time figuring out whether I wanted to post this article or not. With this site, I give my honest opinion and reviews on things, but I try to follow a general rule of ignoring things that I know for a fact that I’m going to hate, in order to prevent adding fuel to an already vitriolic fire within the internet. While I did only cover Windows-based MWC devices this year, this was not necessarily by design. I do pay attention to Android and iOS announcements and carefully consider whether or not I actually want to … Read more…

How to Get Unlimited 3DS Spot Passes

This morning, Anthony Schwader uploaded a video on YouTube reporting an exploit in Nintendo’s special character spot pass platform that will give you a potentially unlimited amount of spot passes, one at a time using Nintendo’s Special Guest Miis. He supposibly figured this out while trying to fix a corrupted SD card by removing a possibly problematic Special Guest Mii. I have now tried this exploit and can verify it works. If you have a 3DS, you should know that every now and then, Nintendo will release special characters over their Spot Pass network to coincide with real life events. … Read more…

First Stand Alone Star Wars Movie Named

Thursday morning, Disney CEO Bob Iger walked up on stage during a press conference, and actually announced a few things. Unsurprisingly, he talked about The Force Unleashed just enough to say that he can’t talk about anything. Then he announced a rather minor but already frequented rumor that Rian Johnson, a director behind Looper and like, three Breaking Bad episodes, would get the distinct honor of writing and directing Star Wars Episode VIII. The only interesting part about this announcement is that they are planning on releasing the next iteration in May of 2017, and maybe the confirmation that J.J. … Read more…

Daredevil – 2nd Trailer

When I saw the teaser trailer for Netflix’s rendition of Daredevil, I was interested, but only because of the concept. I’ve always loved the concept of Daredevil, a man with a disability that turns it to his advantage. The blind criminal prosecutor who fights like a vigilante at night. And most of all, I love the fact that Netflix, a company who clearly knows how to grab the right talent for making quality content, has grabbed this idea for a television series. However, the trailer left me dubious. It didn’t say much, and that’s not what I want to see … Read more…
